The Airplane

Brax went on his first airplane ride over Memorial weekend to Nebraska for his baptism.

On the way to Nebraska, he cried for about 10 minutes on the runway before take off.  Then, he slept for most of the flight.  On the descent, he cried for another 10 minutes.  I didn't think it was so bad, but Wade did.  I figure at least he didn't cry the entire flight!  However, as we were leaving the plane, a four year old turned around and said, "Your baby annoyed me."  I was speechless.

On the way home, he sucked on the pacifier and ate a little.  Then, he slept for most of the flight again.  On the descent, he had a big blow out diaper, but he didn't cry at all.  The passenger next to us said that he was the most well behaved baby he had ever seen on a flight.  Thank you very much!  Take that four year old!

Daddy Time

Here is Brax hanging out with Wade.  They have been having a good time hanging out while I am at work.
Here he is in his Nebraska gear watching the Nebraska softball game with Wade.
Here he is wearing his golf onesie while Wade goes golfing since he can't go golfing, yet.

Three Months

You weigh 9.5 pounds are 23.5 inches.  You are so skinny.  We are hoping you will gain more weight after your heart surgery.  You had to start taking medicine to help you gain more weight before the surgery.

You all of a sudden like to suck on the pacifier.  You also like to try and fit your entire fist into your mouth to suck on it.  You can easily get your hands to your mouth.  Once, you grabbed the pacifier on your chest and put it into your mouth.

You can really grap the rings on your play mat.

We started tummy time.  You don't seem to mind it very much as long as we stay by your face and talk to you.

We started going to church together.  So far, you have been really quiet and usually fall asleep.  I hold you for most of the Mass.

I went back to work so you have been spending the days with Daddy and have had your first babysitter when Daddy has class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

You will stick your tongue out at me when I stick my tongue out at you.  This makes you smile.

You are a bit of a moaner.  Also, you have started to do this high pitch squeal sometimes.

You go to bed around 9:30 and are up around 2:00 and 5:00 to eat.  You will usually sleep until 7 or so and will sleep another hour if we hold you.

You are still breastfeeding well and will take a bottle when I am gone.  You eat around 2.5 ounces every 2.5 hours.  I am hoping you will eat more and go longer between feedings after we get your heart fixed.

You smile more each day especially in the mornings after you eat.

We go for walks or runs almost every day.

You have begun to babble more each day and are quite active sometimes.  You move your arms and kick your legs when you get excited.

Mother's Day

Everyone said that your first Mother's Day is special which I agree.  Now that I am a mother, it has so much more meaning.  There is a greater appreciation for my mother and all mothers now that I know how much work and sacrifice motherhood requires.  Motherhood is a never ending job, and I think about Brax all the time.  I want what is best for him and would do anything for him.  I want to provide him with a happy childhood and give him a good foundation to be successful in all aspects of life as he becomes more independent.  When he is an adult, I want to have the relationship with him that I have with my mom.

On Saturday, Brax and I went to Mass.  The priest had some nice and funny words to say about mothers during his homily.  Also, the prayers were for mothers, and there was a special blessing for mothers.  Again, it has so much more meaning to me now.  We prayed for all mothers, couples struggling with infertility, mothers who have lost a child, and all those who act in motherly ways.  Since it was such a struggle to get pregnant, my heart goes out to all of those women who so desperately want to be mothers, but cannot.  I know how hard Mother's Day can be during those times.

Unfortunately I was coming down with a bad cold so I didn't feel the best on Mother's Day.  However, it was still a nice day.  After Wade woke up, we went out to brunch.  He did have cards for me- one from him and one from Brax.  Then, we went to Home Depot.  We ended up buying a play set for Brax and some flowers to plant in the backyard.  I love planting flowers and enjoying them all summer.  Wade is nice enough and waters the flowers all summer.  Then, Wade had a lot of work to do for his finals so I spent the day hanging out with Brax.  If only I could get him to nap for longer than 20-40 minutes at a time so we could enjoy a nice long nap together!

Thanks Brax for coming into my life and making me a mother!  I couldn't be happier and love you more than anything!

Bunnies

Bunnies are suppose to be signs of fertility.  Before I was pregnant with Brax, I would see a few bunnies around our neighborhood almost every morning.  It was a sign of hope for me.  After I was pregnant with Brax, I would still see the bunnies throughout the summer.  It always made me feel reassured that everything was going to be okay, and he would be healthy.  Last night, Brax and I were going on a walk, and we saw a bunny eating grass in someone's yard.  Bunnies will always make me think of that time when I was pregnant with Brax.

Going to Dinner

This is one of my favorite outfits for Brax to wear even though his jeans are pretty baggy on him.  He only got to wear this outfit a few times since it just recently fit, and now, he is in summer outfits since it has gotten pretty warm out.  We were on our way to make a stop at Target and Applebee's for dinner.  Wade wanted their pretzel bread.
