Go Big Red

Whenever we are watching the Husker games, Brax sees the Nebraska "N" on tv and yells, "Go Big Red."  Check out the video.  I wish I would have gotten Brax after the first touchdown on Saturday.  He was jumping up and down in front of the tv and yelling, "Go Big Red!  Touchdown!"  It was pretty cute.  At least my dad got to see it while we were Facetiming.

Shape Flash Cards

I got some flash cards from the $1 bins at Target.  Brax liked looking at his shapes ones.  Check out the video.  Octagon, half circle, and rhombus are new ones for him.  We will have to work on semi-circle instead of half circle, though.  Also, he thinks a pentagon and hexagon are octagons.  I can understand that confusion, though.

I Do Not Like!

Well, I borrowed the backpack/leash from a coworker to try it out with Brax.  He always wants out of the cart at Target so I thought it would work well, and he could walk along the cart since he doesn't understand the concept of having to stay by us, yet.  Well, he was not a fan at all!  We took it off since he was whining, and people were staring at us.  I let him walk around a little with me following him.  Then, I bribed him to stay in the cart by giving him an Oreo.  I've decided his second addiction following balls is Oreo's.  We will have to try and practice some with the backpack so he gets used to it.  Wade doesn't think that's going to happen.  We will see.

Play Dough

I told Brax's teacher that since I cannot volunteer during the day that I would be happy to help with anything I could do at home.  Little did I know that would be making play dough!  I had never made play dough before, and I was up late Saturday and Sunday night making it.  They prefer the homemade dough since it lasts longer.  It wasn't too hard.  I just hope it lasts awhile.  I'm sure Brax will just try to eat it when he first plays with it.  Wonder what the next project will be?!

How Do You Eat an Oreo?

This seems to be the new ice breaker going around my school district.  We all eat an oreo, and then, based on how we ate the oreo, it tells us the following about our personalities.  I thought I'd share.  Then, check out the video of how Brax eats an oreo.

 Your Personality:

The whole thing. This method means you consume life with abandon, you are fun to be with, exciting, carefree with some hint of recklessness.  You are totally irresponsible. No one should trust you with their children.

One bite at a time. You are lucky to be one of the 5.4 billion other people who eat their Oreos this very same way. Just like them, you lack imagination, but that's okay; not to worry, you're normal.

Slow and methodical. You follow the rules. You're very tidy and orderly. You're very meticulous in every detail with every thing you do to the point of being anal retentive and irritating to others. Stay out of the fast lane if you're only going to go the speed limit.

Feverous nibbles. Your boss likes you because you get your work done quickly. You always have a million things to do and never enough time to do them. Mental breakdowns and suicides run in your family.  Valium and Ritalin would do you good.

Dunked. Everyone likes you because you are always up beat. You like to sugar coat unpleasant experiences and rationalize bad situations into good ones. You are in total denial about the shambles you call a life. You have a propensity towards narcotic addiction.

Twisted apart, the inside, and then the cookie. You have a highly curious nature. You take pleasure in breaking things apart to find out how they work, though not always able to put them back together, so you destroy all the evidence of your activities. You deny your involvement when things go wrong. You are a compulsive liar and exhibit deviant, if not criminal, behavior.

Twisted apart, the inside, and then toss the cookie. You are good at business and take risk that pay off. You take what you want and throw the rest away. You are greedy, selfish, mean, and lack feelings for others. You should be ashamed of yourself. But that's ok, you don't care, you got yours.

Just the cookie, not the inside. You enjoy pain.

I just like to lick them, not eat them. Stay away from small furry animals and seek professional medical help - immediately.

I don't have a favorite way, I don't like Oreo cookies. You probably come from a rich family, and like to wear nice things, and go to up-scale restaurants. You are particular and fussy about the things you buy, own, and wear. Things have to be just right. You like to be pampered. You are a prim.

Playing in the Rain

As Brax and I headed outside this evening, it started pouring rain.  It didn't stop Brax from practicing his hoops.  After it stopped raining, there was a beautiful rainbow.  Then, Brax and I shot more hoops, and Brax shot a leaf.  Also, he watched me throw the frisbee and picked up on it pretty quick.  Check out some videos:

Birthday Fun

I had a pretty nice birthday weekend!  Wade sent flowers to me at school on Friday which was such a nice surprise.  Then, we babysat our neighbor's son that night in exchange for them watching Brax when we have to go to a wedding in October.  Afterwards, we tried to make it through a movie, but we were too tried. On Saturday, I went to acupuncture.  Then, we went to Castle Rock to see my good friend, Stephanie, and her family.  I went shopping with Stephanie and her daughter.  I found some really good deals at the Banana Republic outlet and got Brax a football shirt.  Stephanie made a nice dinner for us with so many good desserts and a special cupcake for me.  Also, they gave me a present of a very cute Vera Bradley lunch bag and cup.  We watched the Nebraska game together- so glad they won!  Brax crashed on the way home.  On my actual birthday, Brax and I went to Little Monkey Bizness.  Then, I went to church by myself.  It's the first time I've been to church by myself since Brax was born so I actually got to listen to everything instead of running after Brax which was nice.  Then, I did some work around the house and cleaned out my car.  Wade made dinner and got me a nice card and gift card for a mani/pedi when I get my hair done next weekend.  My parents sent some nice cards, birthday money, and a bracelet.  My mom, her sister, and my sister all wear the same bracelet so that is special.  Also, I got a lot of nice texts and messages from friends and other family.  My last year in my 30's, and I have a feeling it's going to be a special one!

Brax insisted on going down this slide over and over.  In order to get to the top of it, you have to...
go through these
 up through a hole
and across this walkway.  I am looking forward to the day that Brax can maneuver this by himself!  That was a lot of work!

Nana

About a month ago, Nana and Great Aunt Jerri came to visit us for the weekend.  They got in Friday night after Brax went to bed.  Then, on Saturday, we had fun playing at home.  Nana babysat while Wade and I went golfing.  Wade grilled for dinner.  Then, on Sunday, Aunt Jerri treated us to brunch, and we went to get some sand for Brax's sandbox.  We had lots of fun and are so glad they came to see us!

Aunt Jill

Here are some pictures of Aunt Jill and Brax from July when we were in Henderson.  Sorry it took so long!
