First Husker Game
Brax sure didn't seem very interested in the football game. He fell asleep right before kick off. Obviously, he didn't understand it was his first Husker game! He slept for about 15 minutes and woke up. When Wade would get excited, he would make a sad face and start to cry. He obviously wasn't used to us using louder voices. He stayed up an hour later than normal. We put him to bed in his Husker pajamas. Luckily, T-Magic pulled off the victory, barely. I have a feeling it might be a long disappointing season with how our defense looked. We will see what happens. Go Big Red!

Memories
Here are the stuffed animals Wade and I had as little kids. The tiger was Wade's stuffed animal. The bear was mine. I remember winding the bear at night when I went to bed and listening to the song it played. They are pretty old and worn. I hope Brax finds a stuffed animal that makes him feel comfort like ours.
Stuffed Animals
Here are some more of the 6 month pictures we took of Brax. All of these stuffed animals have special meaning. In the first pictures, the turtle was the stuffed animal Wade brought to the hospital on Valentine's Day for Brax the day after he was born. The rest of the stuffed animals are from Grandpa Stan and Grandma Kathy. The puppy was for his heart surgery, the bear for his birth, and the lamb for his baptism. Hopefully, they become some of his favorites over time.

Exo Time
Well, we got the exosaucer out. Brax's little toes barely touch the ground so I got out one of Wade's computer books. It worked out pretty well. He was pretty into the toys. It'll be nice when he can figure out that he can bounce and twirl himself around.
Daycare
Well, Brax started daycare last week. He was only there about an hour the first day. The daycare lady said he was such an easy baby and just watched everyone and drank his bottle. However, when he went this week for about 2.5 hours that was not the case. I picked him up and his eyes were red from crying. She said he would cry if she sat down with him and she had to hold him and stand up to keep him happy. Hopefully, he adjusts. I am glad Wade is home with him most of the week because I'd feel really guilty if he was in daycare every day all day. Wade's class was cancelled tomorrow and Monday is Labor Day so he has a week off before trying again. Here are a few pictures we got yesterday before he started crying. When I picked him up, the girl in the bottom picture said, "That baby is just so cute!" I'd have to agree.
New Rug
Look at the new rug we bought for upstairs. Pretty stylish, huh? Baby stuff has taken over our house. Brax is starting to roll and scoot around a lot, and the pile of blankets on the hardwood floor was getting a bit out of control. We bought this foam mat which has all the letters of the alphabet and numbers. Brax didn't quite know what to think of it and didn't roll as much today, but I'm sure he will get used to it and be crawling around in no time. At that point, we will probably need a nice stylish gate to go around the new rug. :)
Big Boy
We gave eating in the high chair a try tonight. It was nice to put some toys on the tray for Brax to play with while I made his food. He got pretty angry when he couldn't reach a toy since he couldn't wriggle his way to it like on the floor. He is on the verge of crawling. I had to tighten the belt straps pretty far since he is so small. He did a pretty good job of staying upright although a few times he started to tilt over. Also, he ate fairly well. I had to take away the toys so he could focus on eating. We tried turkey tonight, and I think the consistency wasn't smooth enough like the fruits and vegetables so we might hold off on that again until he is a bit older. He is growing up!
From Buddy to Bubba
Somehow, I stopped referring to Brax as "Buddy" and now call him "Bubba." Wade is not a fan. He always tells Brax to tell me that he doesn't like being called Bubba. I will have to admit it is probably not the best nickname. On a more positive note, we have gotten a little better about calling Brax by his actual name.

6 Months
My baby is half a year old! How did this happen?!
You weigh 12 pounds 9 ounces. You are 25 inches long. Your head is 17 inches.
You have become so much stronger. You can roll from front to back and back to front even four times in a row. You can push yourself up on your stomach, and you can hold your head up at all times.
You like to blow raspberries and have us blow them back to you.
You go to bed at about 8:30 and are up around 2:00 and 5:00 to eat before you are up around 7:30 for the day. I am so ready for you to sleep through the night. The doctor says you have to sleep 8 hours without food to grow well so we are going to start letting you cry it out for the first time you get up.
Your nipple started to bleed some from extra estrogen in my breast milk. The doctor says you are fine, and it will stop in a few weeks.
You are still breastfeeding. We started rice cereal and green beans with you. You don't really seem to care one way or the other about it all.
You went to Nebraska to visit both sides of the family. It was your first time to visit Henderson, NE. Aunt Jill really wanted to show you off.
You spent your first night away from us. Daddy went back to Denver early, and I went to Kansas City to visit Kirsten. You did very well for Grandpa and Grandma.
You don't cry very much at all anymore. You whine some when you get tired and hungry.
You like to smile. You smile a lot for people. It is so fun when you laugh hysterically.
You really like to kick and move your legs.
Grandpa Lyle came to visit and helped with your 6 month photo shoot.
You like to go outside and watch the leaves move.
You like to read books especially the ones that are touch and feel.
We went to a wedding and Theresa babysat you for the day. You did very well and only cried before you went to sleep.
You are so much fun to be around! I miss you so much when I am at work all day. I love you so much!

Real Food
Brax has started to eat real food! We started rice cereal the week of August 4th. Then, we started green beans about a week ago, bananas three days ago, and we will try sweet potatoes tonight. He doesn't seem to really care one way or another about it. Sometimes, he eats, and sometimes, he just plays. He seems to enjoy sitting in his bouncy chair and the whole process. He babbles the entire time I feed him, and tonight, he thought it was pretty funny to put his toe in his mouth after every bite. I feed him at about 6:00 each night. We will start breakfast at month seven and lunch at month eight. Eventually, he will have a fruit, vegetable, and protein at every meal.
I am making all of Brax's baby food. My mom bought us a baby food maker, the Baby Brezza, even though she doesn't think I will last long making food. We will have to prove her wrong. The Brezza steams fruit, raw vegetables, and raw meat. Then, it purees it, and 20 minutes later, you have baby food. I pour the food into ice cube trays and freeze it. Then, I put it in freezer ziploc bags, and all we have to do is heat the cubes up in the microwave. It's pretty easy, healthier, and cheaper than buying baby food. I like that I can make food in advance so I don't have to make it every night.

My Sweetheart
I just love watching Brax sleep. It melts my heart! When I get ready for work, I keep the monitor in the bathroom so I can watch him sleep while I get ready. It is so fun to watch him move around in his sleep. Also, one of my favorite things is when I lay him down on his back, and he curls up on his side to sleep. I think it is just so precious!
Super Babies
I think I had better form than Brax. We do look quite alike though. Dad has quite the hairstyle! Maybe I should start protecting our lamps in plastic like Mom. :)
6 Month Photo Shoot
Wade's dad was nice enough to fly out and help us with Brax's six month photo shoot. Thank you Grandpa Lyle! While a baby is not the easiest subject, I think we got some pretty good shots to capture his personality and look at this time in his life. Here's just a few from the days. Wade is still busy editing so there are more to come.
