First Halloween

Brax's first Halloween was so fun!  He had many costume choices, but we decided to dress him up as a little devil.  Wade was actually a devil when he was little so I will have to find his picture to compare them.  He woke up today in his skeleton pajamas.  When he went to Gymboree, he wore his Robin costume.  The boy next door, Daxton, was Batman for Halloween so we will have to get a photo with him sometime soon.  On Tuesday, he went to Gymboree in his Spiderman costume.  We do have a Superman costume, too.  Also, he had a first Halloween shirt and hat.  I decided to dress up for Halloween with Brax, too.  He thought my green face was pretty funny and laughed and laughed.  He wasn't too scared of Wade, the headless man, either.  He ended the night by going to bed in his Frankenstein pajamas.  Besides enjoying Halloween with Brax, the next best thing to happen was Brax actually slept through the night for the first time last night!

First Nuggets Game

The Nuggets kicked off their season on October 30th.  Brax was all decked out and ready to go.  He even took a late nap so he could stay up for tip-off.  Unfortunately, the Nuggets lost by two points.  I can't wait to take him to his first Nuggets game in a few weeks.

Fall Festival

We went to the fall festival that the Four Mile Historic House puts on each year.  The park is a few blocks away from our house so we walked over with our neighbors and their three year old boy named Daxton.  There was quite a lot to see!  We enjoyed some kettle corn and homemade root beer.  Then, we picked out a pumpkin in the pumpkin patch for Brax.

8 Months

October 13, 2013

We started breakfast along with dinner.  You have rice cereal or yogurt along with a fruit.  You eat very well most of the time.  There isn't any type of food that you don't like.  It's that yummy homemade baby food!

You weigh a little over 14 pounds.  You are still very tiny for your age.  The doctors say you will catch up around 15-18 months.

You started sitting in a high chair when we go out to dinner on Friday nights.  You like the high chair and like to lean back in it.

We celebrated my birthday by going out to dinner at Red Lobster.

You had a stomach bug and threw up for about 6 hours one day.  It was no fun for any of us!

You have two bottom teeth.

We went to Valley to visit Grandpa and Grandma for an extra long weekend.

You are really rolling all over and like to do at least two rolls at a time.  We really have to watch you when you are on the bed.  We can put you down in a spot on the floor, and you will end up in the middle or on the other side of the room.

You go to bed around 7:00.  You get up around 4:30 to eat and up for the day around 7:00.  On the weekends, you will sleep until 8:00 usually.  I think this is because I am not up getting ready and making noise.

You are a bad napper.  You take about two 30 minute naps a day.

You sit up for short periods of time by yourself.  We have to make sure we are nearby so you don't fall back and hit your head hard.

You like to lay on your stomach and move your legs and arms in the air.  You look like Superbaby!

You like to babble.  Your favorite sound to make is "Mama."

We feed dog treats to the dogs next door.  We look at the chickens next door, too.  You don't seem to care too much about the animals.  You just stare at them.

We go for walks or sit outside on the blanket.  You go in your baby swing.  Most of the time you laugh when you swing.

Working Mom

I am so tired!  I do not know if I ever will feel rested again.  It is so hard being a working mom.  At work, there are actually times when people are talking to me, and I have to really focus on staying awake and listening.  If I wasn't so busy, I would lay my head down on my desk and take a nap over lunch.

Working and being so tired is one reason I have decided to stop breastfeeding.  We made it to 8 months with Brax only having breast milk so I think that is pretty good.  I was planning on going a year, but I am just not producing very much milk anymore, and it is wearing on my body.  I have slowly weaned Brax since his 8th month birthday.  I plan on dropping the middle of the night feed starting Monday.  I know he is ready to go 12 hours without eating.  I am ready to get 8 straight hours of sleep, too!

I know I should be better about going to bed shortly after Brax, but there is always something to do when he goes to bed.  I mainly have housework to catch up on when he goes to bed, and those rare times when everything is caught up, I want to spend time doing what I want to do and catch up on some of my tv shows.

The hardest part about work is missing my baby during the day.  I so wish I could just stay home with him!  I'm glad our nanny sends us pictures and texts about how the day is going, but it just makes me miss him so so much!  Hopefully, when Wade finishes school, I will be able to at least only work part-time and spend some more time with Brax.

Banana Bread

My mom had to send me the witch dress that Kelly borrowed so I could dress up for Halloween.  She included a Halloween card with some money in it for Brax.  He was quite interested in how the money felt.  Also, she sent some homemade banana bread.  Brax really liked it!  Thanks, Grandma!

My Best Friend Is Moving Here!!!

I couldn't be more excited!  My best friend, Stephanie, and her family are moving here in December!  Her husband, Brian, was offered a promotion for work.  I have known Steph since first grade, and she is actually my third cousin, too.  We grew up playing sports together as kids.  Then, when I went to town for school in 7th grade, we were in the same class until we graduated high school.  Then, we attended Rockhurst University and roomed together.  We have stayed in touch since college.  I have known her husband for a long time, too since they started dating in 8th grade.  I almost started crying when I got the text that they were moving here.  They will be about 30 minutes away, but that is still so much closer than Kansas City, and I will finally have a close friend near.  Last night, we met for dinner.  They were out here to buy a home this week.  The kids enjoyed each other.  Alayna is in 4th grade, and she was very excited to hold Brax.  Jace wanted to hold him, too.  He is in 1st grade.  It will be fun to get together for all of us especially since we are all Husker fans!

The Mat

I am sure glad we bought this mat for Brax because one of his favorite things to do is pull up the pieces.  He will moan when he is working on a piece until he gets it up.  At the end of the day, he has about 6 pieces up and pulled apart.

Nicknames

I sure have found some nicknames for Brax, and I am not sure where they come from.  They just seem to fit him.  I suppose at least they all have something in common that they start with B.  They seem to change over time.  Here is what I have called him since birth:

1.  Buddy
2.  Bubba
3.  Boo Boo
4.  Boo Bear

Right now, I seem to stay pretty consistent with names 2-4.  Brax doesn't seem to mind now, but I am sure he will when he gets older!

Superbaby!

Brax does this super cute thing where he lays completely on his stomach and flaps his arms and legs in the air like he is superbaby.  I've yet to get a picture or video of it.  Anyway, it prompted me to buy this Superman pajama costume at Target.  I finally found one in stock at the Target by my work in his size.  He looks pretty cute!  In the last picture, he was so tired from fighting crime all day, and it was bedtime.
